A reliable source, Dennis, confirms the raccoon is still alive, a mother of three, and happily living in the woods below our yard. Said raccoon was sighted in the line of woods separating the yard and secret garden this morning slightly before dawn. Mother raccoon and her children were traveling south toward the ravine, the smallest, slightly dopey one trailing behind. Macarthur also present at the sighting, was interested but confused. According to Dennis, Macarthur caught the raccoon scent and ran in the opposite direction before turning around and chasing after the then gone raccoons. Obviously raccoons and other wildlife have little to fear from Macarthur. Unless it is a cat or a slow moving possum, Macarthur is no longer a threat to the wildlife around here.
